ITEC Diploma in Aromatherapy

Course Overview

This two-year course is intended for those who wish to work as a professional aromatherapist and an aromatherapy massage practitioner.

This is a two-year training course. The first year covers the Diploma in Holistic Massage, Diploma in Anatomy & Physiology, Certificate in Business, Professional Conduct & Business Awareness, First Aid Certificate and the Energy Management and Awareness Certificate. The second year is devoted to the working with the Aromatherapy oils and the aromatherapy massage.

If a student has a previous ITEC qualification in Holistic Massage they can go straight into second year to study Aromatherapy.

The course covers Aromatherapy and the Holistic Field in depth together with personal development to enable you to work as a Professional Aromatherapist and massage therapist. Business and marketing skills are also included so you can become fully equipped to earn a living within the Holistic Health Field. The aim of this course is to train you to a very high level. By the end of this course you will have an extremely detailed and broad knowledge of massage and Aromatherapy. You will be fully capable and confident of entering the world of the Professional Holistic Massage and Aromatherapy Therapist with confidence and expertise.

Course Structure

The course consists of two one-year certifications:

Year One: Diploma in Holistic Massage, Anatomy & Physiology, Unit 22, First Aid, Energy Management.
– Tuesday nights and three weekends.
For year one contents see Holistic Massage.

Year Two: Diploma in Aromatherapy
– Monday mornings starting first week October.

Course Content:

The course consists of three strands: 1. practical aromatherapy & theory including case studies, examination and preparation classes , 2. First Aid Certificate, 3. Holistic & Spiritual approach – energy management & awareness,
• History of Aromatherapy
• Study of 42 Pure Essential oils to include: properties of each oil
• Source and extraction of each oil/Chemical Composition of each oil
• Blending of oils
• 60 Hours of Case Histories
• Hands on Aromatherapy Massage with in-depth practical training
• Contraindications and considerations in the use of Aromatherapy
• Benefits including principles and benefits.
• Common ailments and contraindications/Client Care
• Exploring and understanding the Holistic Approach

Red Cross First Aid Certificate:
Students will gain a Red Cross Certificate in First Aid.
Energy Management & Awareness:
Students will become aware of energy and how it works in our everyday life, the philosophy’s and practices of working as an energetic practitioner. You will learn how to build and preserve your own energy so they are not exhausted after giving a treatment.
